Lara Rosenbaum, MD, MHS

Dr. Lara Rosenbaum is a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs micrographic surgeon and dermatologic oncologist.

She specializes in taking care of patients with skin cancer. As a fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon, she has received training not only in the surgical removal of skin cancers using the Mohs micrographic surgery technique, but also in complex reconstructive techniques and the medical management of skin cancers, both common and rare. Mohs surgery provides the highest possible cure rate for many skin cancers.

Dr. Rosenbaum grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan. After receiving her Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, with minors in Spanish and Biomedical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), she went on to Yale University School of Medicine. While there, she was awarded a competitive Howard Hughes Medical Institute Fellowship allowing her to engage in an extra year of research evaluating how melanoma spreads throughout the body. In addition to her Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) from Yale, she also graduated with a Master of Health Science (M.H.S).

She went on to an internship in Internal Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a Harvard Medical School teaching hospital, followed by her dermatology residency at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. She was selected to be a Chief Resident for two consecutive years, focusing on medical student education. While in residency, she continued to be interested in cutaneous oncology and developed a passion for the surgical and medical management of skin cancers and pre-cancers. As a result, she sought additional training as a Mohs micrographic surgeon and dermatologic oncologist at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, which is consistently recognized as one of the leading cancer centers in the world. She completed a rigorous one-year fellowship in Mohs surgery and advanced reconstructive techniques.
